Dr. Grady Maddox

Grady E. Maddox M.D., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery, wrist arthroscopy, shoulder arthroscopy, microsurgery, and joint replacement of the upper extremity.  A native of Dothan, Alabama, Dr. Maddox graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Physics. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama.  Following medical school, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Maddox then completed his fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at the University of Colorado.  He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

He has a special interest in degenerative disorders of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, as well as sports-related injuries of the upper extremity.  Through both nonsurgical and surgical means, he provides personalized treatment plans for each patient with the goal of returning to full function and a higher quality of living. He has authored multiple research papers in major journals on topics related to orthopedic surgery.

In his time away from work,  Dr. Maddox enjoys spending time with his wife Claire and their 6 children on their family farm.   


April Tucker, R.T.(R), serves as a clinical coordinator and radiologic technologist at Orthosports. She earned her Associate of Science degree in Radiography from Gadsden State Community College in 2001 and has been a valued member of the Orthosports team since 2003. With a deep appreciation for the challenges and opportunities of orthopedic care, April finds daily fulfillment in the work she does and the growth it brings. Outside the office, she enjoys a good cup of coffee and exploring antique shops. She is grateful to God for the many blessings in her life, including the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated physician and her extended Ortho family.
